The Harry Potter Effect
Well… I used to be a nerd/geek when I was a kid, and I guess I still am. Let’s see, glasses, sporadically bad dress sense, can fix your computer and program your VCR, yeah. I have IRC on my blackberry. Yup, geek.
And then it became cool to be a geek, but somehow I’m still not considered cool. I know I’m a geek. I know geeks are cool. But I don’t get to be cool. That’s not fair.
I call it the Harry Potter effect. It’s cool to be a geek and wear glasses as long as you are also a professional model-actor, and as long as the glasses are just a prop, and they don’t correct your already-perfect vision. $80 haircuts help, too.
Harry Potter, you’re a fake. Go away.
