“Just” Satire?

so basically you’re saying theres no actual flying spaghetti monster and that all this just satire.

He misses an important point: it could be satire and still be true. Pastafarians have much more faith than other religions.  Allow me to explain.

Let’s talk about faith. Faith is belief in the absence of proof. For example, Christians believe in their God in spite of a near-total lack of evidence. The strength of these firmly held beliefs demands respect, it is claimed, because this faith exists in the absence of proof.

If this is true, then Pastafarians are in a position to demand even more respect. Where Christians have little or no evidence for the existence of their god, Pastafarians have evidence to the contrary! Our holy writings are openly acknowledged by the writers to be satire. Do we take this to mean that our god does not exist? Of course not! Our belief in the FSM is in direct opposition to the available evidence; therefore, our faith is even stronger. FSM faith is at least twice as strong as the leading competitor. Therefore, we deserve at least twice as much respect.

Or, in the words of I’m Brian and so’s my wife

Our farcical beliefs are better that yours because we don’t actually believe them.
